Admission to Trinity River Audubon Center is FREE on the Third Thursday of every month!  Nature’s beauty shines when the sun goes down.  Join astronomers from the University of Texas at Arlington for a seminar on the night sky, then practice your stargazing using a variety of telescopes on the elevated deck overlooking our wetland ponds from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to enjoy nature crafts, animal encounters, and guided hikes on over 4 miles of accessible trails.

Join us for guided hikes throughout the day.  Bring your lunch, and enjoy our shady new riverbend picnic site, overlooking the Trinity River.  Evening activities include night hikes, kids’ crafts, and amphibian watch.  Starting at 7:30 p.m., we’ll participate in “Swifts’ Night Out,” where we monitor our chimney swift tower.

Explore the amazing resources of the 6,000-acre Great Trinity Forest. As the largest urban hardwood forest in the United States, this forest supports a diverse community of plant and animal species and contains a unique mixture of bottomland hardwoods, wetlands and grasslands.

The Trinity River Audubon Center, located eight minutes from downtown Dallas on 120 acres, opened October 2008 and is part of the City of Dallas-Trinity River Corridor Project. The land, formerly an illegal dump site, has been reclaimed by the City of Dallas and beautifully demonstrates how a municipal liability can be transformed into a major asset for people of all ages to enjoy.
